A Reflection on the Beatitudes

Blessed.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for they are rich in the Lord’s eyes.

For those who grieve, every tear shall be wiped from their eyes.

Those who remain humble in a world full of prideful people will be better off than them and shall inherit the next.

And for those with little food on this earth, not just physically but spiritually, the Lord will satisfy them.

The Lord sees those with mercy in their hearts, as the Lord shall bestow mercy on them just as they have bestowed it on others.

Blessed are the pure, as the Lord shows favor on those who seek to live more like their eternal father every day.

Jesus blesses those who seek to end the violence in our lives, as they will be rewarded with not just peace, but become honored as sons of God.

And blessed are those who are persecuted, shamed, and hurt for their faith, wherever they are in this world for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

For God does not look at the flesh, but the heart, and whoever he so chooses will enter into eternal joy with him.

Let us try to live more like this, prizing humility, kindness, purity, and peace, so we may grow closer to God every day.
