Ode to a Chicken Sandwich

Culinary masterpieces have existed nearly as long as humanity has flourished upon the earth. From the masterful dumpling designs of the Chinese to the steak worth salivating over of the Brazilians, food is ingrained in nearly every culture to ever exist. However, one specific dish has stood the test of time and persisted throughout the ages to become possibly the greatest food form of all time: the chicken sandwich. The origins of the chicken sandwich date back to around 3,000 BC, where steles depicting ancient tribes in the fertile crescent consuming them have recently been discovered. Fast forward to the early days of the Roman Empire, and records can be found that indicate that not only did all roads at the time lead to Rome, but they actually led to a restaurant that specialized in chicken sandwiches. These strange phenomena persist even throughout the first couple hundreds of years AD, where the explosion of Christianity in the world brought a specific variation of chicken sandwich across the globe and served as the inspiration for Chick-fil-A’s iconic sandwich. Even the Mongol Empire of the 13th and 14th centuries, once they made their way over to the western areas of the Eurasian continent, invested heavily in spreading the chicken sandwich across to the East, where the people had been sorely lacking an alternative. These are but some of the instances of the chicken sandwich throughout history, and it remains popular to this day.

Now, what would be the best way to honor such a timeless and enduring dish that has been prevalent for all of history? As an expert in poetry, I have decided that a reverse acrostic is the best way to represent the most important dish ever created. This poetic form is especially known for its ability to stir emotions in readers and move them deeply, as, coincidentally, it has existed for nearly as long as the chicken sandwich. By reminding the reader of the beauty that is a chicken sandwich with the beginning of each line, this poetic form drastically improves reader retention, as the desire to know how the next letter in “chicken sandwich” relates to the rest of the poem becomes irresistible. Even further, by employing the reverse acrostic formula, in which it would be spelled “hciwdnas nekcihc,” a sense of intrigue and mystery is formed, as the reader has hardly any idea of what letter would, or could, be next. Without further ado, I present: Ode to a Chicken Sandwich.

Ode to a Chicken Sandwich

Hello

Chicken sandwich

I’ve missed you dearly

When will you return to me

Don’t leave

Now is no time for caution

All I need is a chicken

Sandwich

Now, I have it, my chicken sandwich

Everyone knows that chicken does not start with

K

Cause if it did, it’d be pronounced “k-hicken” or “k-chicken”

I know this might be confusing, but pay attention

Ho cries the reverse burglar, reminding you that you must

Consider the chicken sandwich.

  1. However, it’s very disappointing that Chick-Fila no longer displays artworks of the cow in their diners. The authentic feel is gone.
