Meet Nicole Sua: Bible Spotlight Columnist

Meet Nicole Sua, a 16-year-old junior hailing from Florida! This year, she’s taking an astonishing seven classes with TPS: Teaching the Word, Ancient Bible History Lit & Comp (Honors), Art (Painting), Art (Portfolio), American History and Fashion, and 2 SAT Review Classes. A history enthusiast, she is most looking forward to taking Ancient Bible History and American History and Fashion. Nicole credits Mr. Crosby, her eighth-grade American History teacher, for sparking her fascination with the past.

History also inspires her creative writing, including a current project that meshes fantasy elements with the elegant aesthetic of 1950’s Britain. Seeking to capture the wonder of God’s creation, she also paints landscapes. Nicole enjoys reading (historical fiction, especially), writing poetry, and singing. Another of her passions is living all aspects of her life in accordance with God’s perfect design as she seeks to live life however best she can for Him.

Her favorite books include the Bible, The Reset by Jeremy Riddle, and the Elsie Dinsmore Series by Martha Finley, a slightly controversial childhood gem set in the Victorian era. Disney’s adaptation of Johnny Tremain, a Revolutionary War-set novel, remains her favorite film, while her favorite TV show is the classic 1950’s sitcom Leave it to Beaver. Another favorite includes Romans 8:37, as it reminds her that through Christ, she is more than simply a conqueror. Through his strength, she is able to overcome life’s struggles.

Last year, writing for the Apologetics column nurtured her passion and faith, and inspired her to become a Bible Spotlight columnist this year. By focusing on specific scriptures, she also seeks to encourage people going through tough times. In her own faith, praise music helps Nicole connect most with God, as her praise strips away life’s distractions.

Nicole writes because God has given her a pen and words on her heart, and she seeks to take care of the gifts God has entrusted her. She also finds it special to write what God wants to say. After all, he sees both the bigger picture and details.

Nicole’s key piece of encouragement for fellow students this school year is that God created them specifically to accomplish his work. However, she adds, because the Enemy wants to lead them astray, they must seek and pray to him. Nicole elaborates, “If…[they] continually acknowledge Him in all…[their] ways, as Proverbs 3:5 says…[they] will be filled with His abundance, His peace, His joy, and the path He has for…[them] will become clearer…with him, all things are possible.” She further encourages students to make God their inmost desire because he—and he alone—will satisfy their “deepest longings.”
