Meet Mia Holmgren: Music Columnist

Meet Mia Holmgren, clay’s new Music Columnist! With a passion for music and the ability to play both the piano and the cello since the age of four, Mia cannot wait to learn more about music and share all she knows with clay’s readers!

At age fourteen and going into ninth grade, Mia is entering her third year with TPS but her first year with clay. This year Mia will be taking English 3, Logic, and Chemistry with TPS, and will—at the end of the TPS school year—head to Austria where she will practice her German and finish up the school semester. She lives in Massachusetts, USA, and has two older sisters. In her free time, Mia enjoys playing her musical instruments, baking, participating in competitive swimming and cross-country skiing, and spending time with her third puppy Ettie. Her favorite book is Crossover by Kwame Alexander, her favorite color is marine blue, and she does not have a favorite movie. One of her favorite foods is poke bowls, and the weirdest food she has ever eaten is alligator meat.

As a well-seasoned traveler, Mia has traveled to four continents. Some of the countries she has traveled to include the following: UAE, Oman, Sweden, Austria, Kenya, and many more, although one country she has not yet traveled to but wants to visit is Fiji. She says she wants to travel to Fiji because “it looks super pretty and the beaches look angelic.”

With a kind and loving heart, Mia has given her time to travel to Kenya three times to help her dad do missionary work at a hospital there. She also trains and socializes guiding eye puppies until they get old enough to head to actual training, where they will go on to become dogs for the blind.

Lastly, yet most importantly, Mia’s favorite Bible verse is Zephaniah 3:17, which states “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Welcome to clay, Mia!

  1. “it looks super pretty and the beaches are angelic” why does that phrase sum up your personality so accurately?? I’m excited to read your articles and thanks for including competitive skiing in your hobbies. I take partial credit for that one:)
