Meet Lily Tang: PR Photographer

Meet Lily Tang, a 15-year-old Chinese girl and clay’s 2023-2024 PR Photographer! Lily has been living in Beijing, China since she was born. As the oldest child in her family, she has 2 younger brothers whom she describes as cute but sometimes noisy. She described herself as creative, open-minded, and (sometimes) weird. This year will be her sixth year in TPS, and she is just taking English 3 because she is returning to a local school. Last year, she worked as the Alumnus Spotlight writer in clay and brought us many interesting articles. This year she hopes to use her photography skills to keep serving the TPS community.

When Lily is not studying or doing chores, she enjoys baking/cooking, creating anything (from crafts to digital designs), reading non-assigned textbooks or memoirs for fun, learning something random through Khan Academy or just Googling, watching math lessons on various topics posted on YouTube, and sometimes just thinking about very absurd but philosophical questions. Describing herself as a random person, she loves reading, learning, writing, and reflecting on random things.

When talking about her favorite subject, Lily stated that it was math without any hesitation. She suddenly became a very talkative person and began sharing her favorite aspect of math, which is the process of making “small puzzle pieces” into “a big picture.” “When you really comprehend that picture, you would see that it’s fascinating,” she said with sparkling eyes. Her passion for mathematics made her want to study math or related majors in college or become a researcher and work in labs someday.

Lily’s favorite thing about TPS is the diversity it has. Students from different countries come together and learn as a group. When asked about her ideal day, she wanted to wake up without an alarm, and then just do whatever she felt like for the day. Sometimes she would like to hang out with friends, other times just be alone and learn random things with the help of the internet. For the bucket list, Lily hoped she would be able to pursue what she is passionate about, learn how to play chess, learn a new language, and travel to a country that she doesn’t know much about.

And now to finish up with some interesting facts about Lily: she has never been abroad; one of her favorite songs is Highs & Lows by Hillsong; and she really enjoys acoustic music, so if there’s a song she really likes, she usually searches for an acoustic version of it too. Some of her favorite things include purple (it’s been this color since she was around 5), nonfiction books, Hidden Figures, and Isaiah 55:8-9.

Lily is very excited to join clay once again! Can’t wait to see what Lily will bring to clay’s social media!
