Meet Eliana Cetola: Teacher Spotlight Columnist

For the last eleven years, Eliana Cetola has lived near the ocean and the mountains in a beautiful area of northeastern Italy, where her parents are missionaries. The cuisine abounds in varieties of pasta; it also features such things as cow liver paté, served as an appetizer to Eliana and her two younger siblings (all fairly ignorant of the Italian language) at a children’s birthday party shortly after arrival. It actually wasn’t bad. Some food items, though, are unobtainable. Eliana can only bake her favorite pumpkin chocolate chip muffins when pumpkins are in season; she has to prepare the purée herself in the oven.

Besides those muffins, Eliana’s favorites include young adult literature, donuts, plants, Taylor Swift, How to Train Your Dragon, baby harp seals, Broadway musicals, and iced vanilla lattes. She was in fact the Theatre columnist last year, greatly enjoying both the position and the community among clay’s staff.

Though the Teacher Spotlight position is her second choice, Eliana is excited to learn more about the TPS staff and give others a glimpse into their lives. She loves how all the teachers truly care about their students.

Eliana is a senior this year, taking five full classes: College British Lit, AP French, Children’s Lit, AP Psychology, and College Math. Additionally, she will take Health & Wellness in the fall, and Apologetics in the spring. She is excited for all except math, and sad that this will be her last year (even if groups of people in a breakout room with mics on can be scary).

Finally, Eliana would like to publicly establish—for the benefit of Advanced Comp #3 of 2022-23—that cream cheese on sushi is delicious.
