Meet Benjamin Green: International Correspondence Columnist

Benjamin Green is the International Correspondence Columnist on clay’s 2023-2024 staff. He is in the eleventh grade and fills his school load by taking Pre-Calculus, AP Computer Science A, Bible Survey, AP European History, ACT and SAT English Prep, and English 4/5/6. Ben has done seven years including this year with TPS and has been homeschooled almost his whole life.

In his spare time, he enjoys going fishing with his little brother near their home in Iowa, as well as building model aircraft and boats. He also runs cross country, plays soccer, has a hobby of watching drone racing and is setting up a drone racing group in his area, and last but not least loves going to the library. Ben likes being able to chauffeur his four siblings, of which he is the oldest at sixteen years old. Benjamin has one pet, a “super awesome” English lab named Bell who is 4 years old. Benjamin likes to read the news and history, so he thought he would try to write for clay’s News Section.

He has played the banjo for a year and the guitar for five years; Ben says he likes most music if it is done well. One thing that Benjamin will not eat is food that should be hot but that people eat cold, like grilled cheese or pizza. Along the lines of food, Mr. Green’s favorite food is chicken parmesan, and for snacky foods, he loves to douse his popcorn with butter. Ben’s favorite desserts are plain chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.

His favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Benjamin is looking at getting a Communications degree; his dream college is the Naval Academy, and he wants to be a fighter pilot like in Top Gun. Ben says: “If I have a smart thing and a funny thing come to mind, I usually say the funny thing.”

Welcome to the staff, Benjamin!
