Meet Lily Wallaker: Bible Spotlight Columnist

The clay staff of 2022-23 proudly welcomes Lily Wallaker, the Bible Spotlight Columnist!  Lily’s picture captures her better than mere words. She shines like the sun, and when you break up the rays of light that she is made up of, you’ll find all sorts of radiant colors: bubbly mint green, crazy dusty blue, passionate lavender, dedicated forest green, and generous sea green.

15-year-old Lily lives in snowy Michigan–unfortunate for her summery personality, but she makes the best of it–along with her four homeschooled siblings (two biological, two hopefully soon to be adopted) and dog Penny. You can often find her reading classics or historical fiction, hanging out with friends, playing the violin, entertaining children, playing board games, singing, swimming, baking, or writing decorative letters to her many pen pals. Lily loves hot chocolate, pineapple pizza, and homemade meals, but she hates bacon. She is a Type 2 on the Enneagram and an ENFP-T. Despite the popularity of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lily isn’t a fan. Instead, her favorite books (excluding the Bible) include Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis, The Giver by Lois Lowry, and This Changes Everything by Jaquelle Crowe.

One of Lily’s favorite pursuits, of course, is writing, which she has done since age three.  She has tried several times to become the Girls’ Spotlight Columnist, but the Lord had other plans in store.  Despite not getting her desired position, Lily discovered her penchant for writing devotionals and this year and became the next lucky Bible Spotlight Columnist!  Besides writing for clay, Lily dabbles in other types of writing, especially dystopian.

On that note, where might Lily be in the future? This year, she is taking French 3 Language and Culture with Madame S. (This is her fourth year doing French with TPS). As for careers, she is interested in journalism or social work but will be content with whatever the Lord establishes her as, whether that is as a missionary or, preferably, a mom. Whatever the future holds for Lily, daylilies will bloom for her, chocolate will tempt her, and she will definitely have a dog.

Lastly, Lily’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28, which states, And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
