Meet Ava Dargel: Humor Columnist

The debate over pineapple on pizza is hot, even after years of speculation.

Joining the pro side is clay’s Humor columnist Ava Dargel!

Ava is a junior currently residing in Christianburg, Virginia. She only plans on taking one class with TPS, Geography, but is part of the Fotia chapel staff in addition to clay.

When Ava wasn’t doing school over the summer, she was finishing her own novel and choosing Lord of the Rings over Narnia (this is the opinion of Ava Dargel and does not represent the opinion of the author). She also wrote a family newsletter every month to update her outside family on the events of her immediate family’s adventures-she makes a little money off of it too!

Ava lives with her older sister, dog, and parents. She hasn’t always lived in Christianburg, Virginia. She was born in Nebraska and, due to growing up in a Navy family, has also lived in Maryland and Williamsburg, Virginia.

In addition to school this year, Ava will be continuing to play piano: she’s played for ten years. She will also be participating in another year of 4-H and will be entering her ninth year of AWANA. Ava also works at a chicken salad restaurant so her family is never lacking in free food, especially since her sister brings home food from her job, Mission BBQ. Though they get lots of chicken salad and BBQ, Ava’s favorite food is pizza; she says she could eat it every day of the year if she could!

Ava loves to cuddle and play with her dog when she doesn’t have anything else to do, though her dog is scared of absolutely everything; this very versatile girl also knows how to sail as she learned on her family’s fifteen-foot precision sailboat. Occasionally, the wind will not cooperate and the boat will end up bobbing along the water instead of sailing!

Though Ava will be entering her second year on the Fotia chapel staff, this is her first year of clay and we are thrilled to have her!
