Auf Wiedersehen, clay

Dearest readers, I must admit that this week I wrote my musical article in tears. As you might already be aware, this is the last month and last year of clay. So while thinking of ideas of musicals to write about, I woefully came upon The Sound of Music. This musical is all about saying goodbye to the beautiful country of Austria and to the pre-World War II world. In a similar way, this is the theater columnist bidding clay goodbye, and The Potter’s School will never be the same, as it will be empty without clay. While this is my last article, the memory and joy of clay will live on forever.

The Sound of Music, a musical that many know and love, has both many happy moments and sad moments. The protagonist of the story, a former nun, Maria, is like clay because she is always so silly and happy, and even when she isn’t truly happy inside, she finds a way to impart that joy to others as well! The characters in the Sound of Music at first find it hard to put up with Maria’s different ways, but in the end they all love her, and she becomes family.

From this point on, let’s have some fun and compare clay to Maria. At first Maria started out shy and scared of the real world, but in the end, she became a strong and independent woman; clay also started out scared and small, but soon it grew to become a super important and serious magazine at the same time. Soon, Maria goes to a new place and finds happiness there, but it took a little while to find herself and become who she became to be; like Maria, it took clay a little while to develop, but hey, that’s ok—everyone takes a little while to develop in some places! Soon hardship broke out for Maria and the von Trapp family because life was extremely difficult. But in the end, they managed to escape the hardship and live in peace and harmony for forever. While clay doesn’t struggle as much as the von Trapp Family, we can just pretend that clay had some rough times to make things more dramatic.

Sadly, this will be my last paragraph written for clay, and it’s just super hard for me and everyone. I will miss writing about different musicals for this magazine, and there will be a piece missing from clay. So, for once and for all, farewell clay!
