Meet Lydia Rogers: Content Creator

Meet fifteen-year-old Lydia Rogers, a seventh year TPSer, rising sophomore in high school, and clay‘s new Content Creator! This year, she’ll be taking Modern History Lit and Comp, Precalculus (Honors), Chemistry (Honors), Italian 2, and Introduction to Nursing. This is her first year working with clay, and she is excited to be a part of the PR team and grow more involved in the TPS community beyond the classroom.

Lydia hails from Columbia, South Carolina, but has since lived in places all around the world, including Kuwait (twice), the Philippines, Washington, D.C., Jordan, and soon, Senegal! Her life of many moves between continents has caused her to be much more open to cultural differences and to develop her own unique style due to the lack of a norm or peer pressure to be a certain way. She says that one culture shock from being in America over the summer is seeing that “wow, everyone’s standing in a line,” compared to the lively chaos of her previous homes.

Lydia’s hobbies include reading, watching movies, and cross-stitching. Her favorite books and movies are the same: the Lord of the Rings series, with Legolas as her favorite character. Her favorite show is The Andy Griffith Show (which her family always watches when they go back to America), Little House on the Prairie, and any period drama. If she had to choose a theme song for her life, it would be the theme from Lawrence of Arabia because it is a mixture of Arab and Western culture, much like her American upbringing in the Middle East.

If Lydia could travel anywhere around the world, she would go to Antarctica so that she could say that she has been to all seven continents. Her highlight of the summer and one of her proudest accomplishments has been being the first of four siblings to get her driving permit. A fun fact about her personal style is that she is 5’1″ so wears heels as much as possible and is normally overdressed, which she says is “you know, debatably good or bad.” You will also never see her without her jean jacket or leather jacket.

Because of the abundance of knowledge in the Bible, it’s hard for Lydia to choose one verse in particular that speaks to her. However, she finds comfort and security in 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares,” as she struggles with generalized anxiety disorder. She also loves Psalm 23 for its inspiration when she walks in those dark valleys, as well as the classic life-changing John 3:16.

Welcome to clay, Lydia!
