Meet Sophia Stewart: PR Content Creator

Sophia Stewart, clay’s Content Creator for the PR Management Team this year, lives as a missionary on a small island in Indonesia with her family and dog. She has an adopted 14-year-old Ethiopian brother, Judah, and a seven-year-old sister who was born in Singapore named Eden. Since her family is smaller, they are all very close and enjoy spending time with each other. Her brother is her best friend – whenever she needs someone to talk to, she knows she can go to him. Sophia has a dog named Sairose (Sayang) which means love in Bahasa, but unfortunately will have to leave it in America when she returns to Indonesia.

As she starts her sixth year on TPS, she will be taking Military History, Photography, and English 4. She’s most excited about Military History because, in addition to taking the class with friends, she enjoys the inspiring stories of heroism and tragedy.

Sophia loves making, writing, and/or watching movies – it gives her a thrill and a rush of happiness. Her favorite movies are Inception, Hacksaws, Unbroken, and Top Gun: Maverick.  She also enjoys spray painting behind her house and hanging out with her friends. Her interest in dreams and how the brain works pushes her to learn more about psychology, a subject she finds fascinating.

As she has lived in Indonesia, she has gotten to see miracles happen and whenever she doubts God, she is reminded of all the instances she has seen of pure faith. She also enjoys seeing the beauty and artistry in each island, and how they are all vastly unique. For example, one island called Bird Island sells bird poop tea, which they are very proud of. She wouldn’t trade living in Indonesia for anything.

One of her favorite sayings is “an eye for an eye will leave the world blind.” It reminds her that we should not take revenge on this earth, and when we are prideful, we can mess things up. Her favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 17:7-8 which says, “The man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed. He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn’t fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green. It will not worry in a year of drought or cease producing fruit.”

Amongst many of her goals for her remaining years in high school, she hopes to make the TPS Forums interactive and show people that online school doesn’t have to be just going to a class and staying up late doing homework – it can be a strong community.
