Meet Nicole Sua

I practically fly into the room, panting ever so slightly. Of course I have to be late to the first interview of the school year. I flag down fifteen-year-old sophomore Nicole Sua, my victim, by frantically waving my hands over my head. After successfully capturing her…excuse me, her attention, I directly jump into the interrogation.

Casually, I ask for her hobbies. At this question, her eyes light up. She is an aspiring illustrator, singer-songwriter, and author-in-training at The Author Conservatory. Her passions include preserving the wholesome values of the past, being a warrior and princess of the Lord, and listening to friends, family, and a very loud barking dog…plus cuddling with her soft white rabbit and a book in hand.

After waiting a minute to turn that over in my head, I ask about her favorite Bible verse and the reason. She responds that Romans 8:37 is her favorite because God has ministered to her through that verse and has served as inspiration for a novel titled More Than Conquerors.

Warrior Princess of The Most High King is how she would describe herself in one phrase.

Her favorite subject is history, although it was difficult to decide between history and English.

In this school year, she looks forward most to the learning and growing that will take place both physically and spiritually.

If she could go back to any time era, Nicole would choose the 1950s because her all-time favorite show Leave it to Beaver took place and was filmed then. A book that has most impacted her life is the Elsie Dinsmore series because it is her heart and soul in a fictional story. God has used this series to change her life, and Elsie exemplifies what she strives to have–a young heart full of purity and goodness, living according to the Scriptures, and a deep, unbreakable relationship with the Lord.

When given the choice of completing schoolwork on Christmas Eve or finals on vacation, she chose the former because she could conquer that more easily than doing a ton of stressful exams with family on a vacation. In answer to the all-important pancakes or waffles question, she chooses pancakes, which, by the way, is definitely the wrong answer. Her favorite cuisines include Latin, European, and/or American. She would never change her name because it means victory and she loves the taste of victory, but she can’t forget that it comes only from her Savior. Nicole is not a fan of vegetables, but she makes her best effort to be grateful anyway. Apparently, she inherited her sweet tooth from her dad but usually aims for a balanced diet. Unlike her brother, she actually has some self-control.

I really enjoyed getting to know Nicole, if not for a short time!
