Meet Miguel Paul: Guys’ Spotlight Columnist

If there’s one thing Miguel Paul has learned in his fifteen years of living, it’s that trying something new means trying mini octopi.

Although he was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Miguel now resides in Lusaka, Zambia, where he’s been an MK (missionary kid) for the past seven years. Choosing between his birthplace and his current home, Miguel says that Canada is his favorite, but he also enjoys living in Zambia. He has visited several other countries (counting 12 hour layovers), including the U.S., Barbados, Dominica, the Netherlands, England, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Martinique, Botswana, and South Africa. Miguel would love to return to South Africa’s scenic and fun beaches and to enjoy the different cultures that influence the nation in amazing and beautiful ways.

Entering into his third year with TPS, Miguel will be taking Apologetics, College Creative Writing, Computer Programming in Java, AP Psychology, and French 3 Language and Culture. As clay’s Guys’ Spotlight writer this year, Miguel is excited to “meet new amazing guys, share their stories, [and] have fun.”

When Miguel is not working on homework, you might find him programming small video games for fun on a game engine called Unity. He also likes hanging out with his friends, and may even be holding debates over theological matters with them.

On a couple completely random notes, Miguel stated that he and pasta maintain a “love and hate relationship,” and for him to eat it, the pasta must be cooked to his satisfaction. He would like to try skydiving one day, and he finds nearly everything funny.

Miguel’s favorite letter is “M.” In case you are wondering why, that’s because his name starts with an “M.” Miguel also pointed out that if you flip “M” upside down it becomes “W” for “win.” His favorite food is anything Mexican, his favorite book series is The Maze Runner, his favorite movies are Marvel, and his favorite Bible verse is James 1:12, which says “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him” (NIV).

Thanks to Miguel and his outgoing personality, we’ll get to know some more of the guys here at TPS. Keep an eye out for his cool and interesting spotlights throughout the year!
