Meet Madeleine Fugere: PR Photographer

Meet Madeleine Fugere, this year’s PR Photographer! A 16-year-old junior, Madeleine–also known as Madde–will be taking seven classes with TPS for the 2022-2023 school year: AP Psychology, French 3 Language and Culture, Precalculus (Honors), Introduction to Nursing, Health and Wellness, English 5 Advanced Comp – Style and Rhetoric (Honors), and Chemistry (Honors). Besides photography, she also enjoys reading and paddle boarding and is thinking about entering the medical field.

Hailing from Renton, Washington, Madde names Patagonia as the place she most wants to visit, describing the region’s gorgeous landscapes as an ideal spot for photography. If she could stay in a place from any book, Madde would choose heaven from the Bible. However, Wonderland from Alice in Wonderland comes in second. Fun and whimsical, Wonderland provides many interesting photography opportunities and avoids the danger of some of Madde’s favorite books, which include Pilgrim’s Progress, the Bible, the Hunger Games series, The Inheritance series, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and the peril-free Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience. Her other favorites include the color blue, dogs, and Psalm 56: 3-4, which says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Even though many worries appear throughout the year, Psalm 56 encourages Madde to place her trust in God and love Him more.

Flying is Madde’s superpower of choice, and if she were to title the story of her life, Madde would choose Almost Stumbling Through Life, But Not Quite. If she fell down a rabbit hole into a Hunger Game set in the wizarding world and the arena was a bubble bath, Madde names a giant orca floaty as her weapon of choice. Reasoning that the orca would most likely already be alive since this world includes a dash of Alice in Wonderland, Madde reasons that if not, she could always bring it to life with a flick of her wand. During the ensuing chaos, Madde hopes to hide behind her buoyant friend.

Inspired by her passion for taking pictures along with a desire to pursue photography non-academically, Madde is excited—albeit a bit nervous—to work for clay this year!
