Meet Katie Bauer: Story Spotlight Columnist

Fun-loving Katie Bauer is sixteen, a junior in high school, and this year’s Story Spotlight columnist! She has an array of hobbies which includes eating, finding memes, pencil sketching, chilling out with music, reading, writing, and being weird.

Katie’s favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 because she strives to love others as the verse says with patience, kindness, and selflessness, even though she comments, “It’s a lifetime process riddled with failures.” Katie really enjoys reading The Screwtape Letters by the beloved C.S. Lewis and is captivated by his writing. When asked if she wanted to live in any other era, she said that she prefers 2022. She describes herself as a “weirdo from another planet,” but remembers that she is a child of God and perfectly loved by Him. If she had the chance to change her given name, she wouldn’t take it because she likes things just the way they are.

Katie says that the question of favorite subject in school is unfair. She loves all her subjects, but she picks English above the rest. In her own words, what she is most looking forward to this school year is “the end of it. Junior year is the definition of stress.” Many students can probably relate. When asked whether she would rather do finals on a family vacation or schoolwork on Christmas Eve, she replied that she would rather do finals on a family vacation, since her family specializes in staycations.

Katie prefers waffles over pancakes and enjoys Chinese and Asian cuisine. She eats all her vegetables… even the ones she hates. In order from greatest to least favorite, she likes salty, spicy, sweet, sour, and bitter.

Katie Bauer is delighted to write for clay and she hopes you will enjoy her exciting tales in the Story Spotlight realm.
