Open Mic: War and Poems

Based on true events. Written by the Scientist Rebel Alliance Entente.

Mr. Edgren was teaching a class

About light and transparent glass

Then as he was talking

Someone was typing—

Treacherous words he amassed

Suddenly the ode was sent!

The writer would not repent

While traitorous to some

It was glorious to them

The rebels it will represent!

Mr. Edgren looked at the writing

And who knows if he was smiling?

Because just at that moment

He gained an opponent

The poets would not stop – no quitting

Abby held the high position

Dawson was made for all action

They prepared the plan

It would soon begin

Sean was the planner of all motion

This plan might come with emotion—

It requires honest devotion

They must stand firm

And can never return

But all Sean wants is a promotion

Even if their teacher debates

They will never negotiate!

They keep poems alive

‘Til the end of all time

the Scientist Rebel Alliance Entente!

Meet the Authors

1. What class wrote this poem?
We are in Physical Science #1 with Mr. Edgren.
2. What inspired this poem?
his poem was inspired by fellow classmates who were simply having too much fun with writing poems and, as a result, poems were banned. We felt we should carry on their legacy and keep poem-writing alive!
3. What are some of your favorite things about the class?
In my opinion – and I am sure the whole class can agree – the teacher makes the class. You can have really great material and a really bad teacher or you can have really bad material and a really great teacher. Even if Physics is hard at times (which it is most of the time – haha), Mr. Edgren does a fantastic job teaching the material, having fun in class but also not getting too distracted, and just, in general, being a wonderful teacher.
