How to Make a Snowman Mason Jar

Snowflakes still fall through the chilly air, but this cozy snowman sits snugly inside, warming everyone else up with its candle lit jar and cheery smile. To create this simple winter themed glass, all you will need are a few colored paints, a couple brushes, and one Mason jar. This little snowman can be outfitted in many different colors and clothes and can be fitted into different winter scenes. Simply give him a green pair of mittens or paint on a purple beanie hat. You could even add trees, a house, or mountains behind the snowman. Have him hold a hot cup of coco or a red and white stripped candy cane to make him look extra seasonal. There are countless ideas and ways you can decorate your snowman jar, so let’s get started!

Tools and Equipment:

  • Red, blue, orange, white, and black acrylic paints
  • A glass Mason jar
  • A small and medium sized paint brush

To begin, gather your supplies and thoroughly wash and dry your Mason jar, making sure that no residue is left on the surface.

On the flattest side of your mason jar, paint three white circles on top of each other for the snowman’s body.

Next, using black, paint two arms coming out from the sides of the snowman and add three round buttons onto the middle white circle. Then, paint a thick blue line around the snowman’s neck and another squiggly line coming off of it to the side for its scarf.

Add two eyes and a button mouth onto his face, and then paint two red mittens onto his hands. Mix some white paint with the blue to create a lighter shade and use this to draw stripes onto the scarf.

With red paint, draw a line in the shape of a half circle onto the bottom of the snow man and connect a square to the circle on its left. Fill in both shapes with red to create the sled.

Finally, use a thin brush to paint white snowflake dots onto the background of the glass jar.

Light a candle inside your snowman jar, display your creation in your room or on a table, and you’re done!
