Announcing the 2021-22 T-Shirt Design Competition!

Hello everyone!

We are so excited to announce the second annual TPS T-Shirt Design Competition! In past years, clay has launched several competitions, including the first edition of the T-Shirt Competition and the famous GP7 Music Competition–we can’t wait to continue the tradition and see what all you talented TPSers come up with. This year’s contest will be judged by us, the Senior Editors, and by Jacob Luckenbaugh, clay’s graphic designer.

We have so many talented artists and designers within our community, and we would really love for you to have the opportunity to design a T-shirt specifically for the TPS community. So put your best design skills to work for a chance to be featured in TPS’s T-shirt sale!

We’ve compiled a list of competition rules and specifications below, but if there’s anything else that we’ve failed to include, feel free to ask us! We’d love to answer any questions you might have.

Rules and Specifications:

Submissions should be high resolution 10×10 inch files for printing on the front center of the shirt or 4×4 inch files for printing below the shoulder where a pocket would be located (there will be no pocket on the T-shirt). File size should not exceed 25 MB. Acceptable file types are .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .pdf. Applicants should retain their original design in an editable fashion in case changes are needed.

Ideally, the design should use only one color (a maximum of two colors is allowed) and must have a transparent background. Any color may be selected. If the designer can provide the PMS code for the color(s) used, more precision can be attained when printing.

The design will be printed on a Gildan cotton unisex t-shirt (available T-shirt colors for the background can be found here: https://www.blankapparel.com/colorcharts/gildan). Please specify if you would like your design to appear on a shirt of a particular color.

You may incorporate a screenshot of the TPS or clay logo into your design, as long as it is in a single color. TPS will provide the contest finalists with a logo file in the appropriate size/color for their design before the final entries are posted for voting.

PLEASE NOTE: All designs should be completely original to you or compiled from components that are clearly in the public domain and allowed to be reproduced (e.g. Clipart components). Submissions that do not meet these specifications will not be considered. Furthermore, we will only accept ONE submission per person.

All designs must be submitted by October 25th. Any submitted past the deadline will not be considered. The designs selected to advance to the final round will be posted on clay, where TPS students can vote on their favorite. The winner will be announced in mid-November.

Please submit your design using the form below.

Again, if you have any questions, please let us know. And please spread the word to your friends and classmates! We’d like to have as many people participate as possible. Best of luck, and we look forward to seeing your T-shirt designs!

Sincerely,
Julia Holmgren and Mari Stanton
