French Bread

As the school year kicks off, it is hard to find recipes that are fast and easy but still quality and appetizing. With this delicious French Bread recipe, you’ll have the best homemade french bread right on your table for dinner. It is a great side for any meal you make or by itself for a tasty refreshment. What’s more, this recipe only takes a total of forty-five minutes or less!

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups warm water

1 tablespoon honey

1 ½ teaspoons salt

1 ½ tablespoons active dry yeast

3 ½ – 4 ½ cups flour

Instructions:

Combine the water, honey, salt, and yeast in a medium-sized bowl (if you have a kitchen aid, then you can also use that). Let the yeast proof (sit) for about five to ten minutes or until there is foam on top. If your mixture is foamy, that means your yeast is still active and ready to use.

One cup at a time, pour the flour into the same mixture and knead until no longer sticky. The less flour you use, the better it will turn out because if you use a lot of flour at once it can become a very dry dough. If you have a kitchen aid or electric mixer, I highly recommend using the dough hook; if not, you can just use your hands.

After the dough is no longer sticky, get out a pan, spray it or line it with parchment paper and place the dough on the pan. Then cover the dough with a towel and let it sit for fifteen minutes while you preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Letting the dough sit will help it rise, and covering it with a towel is important to retain moisture.

After fifteen minutes and the dough has risen, uncover the dough, cut slits in the top of it, and bake in the oven for fifteen to twenty minutes or until golden brown on the top. You can also stick a knife in the middle of the bread and if nothing comes on the knife then it is ready to serve and eat!

Usually, the bread can get stale quickly so make sure to cover it with aluminum foil or saran wrap if there are leftovers. However, I would suggest eating it while it is fresh!
