Fresh Hawaiian Pizza for a New Year

Already it’s another new year, a time to make new resolutions, stay up till midnight, and get crafty and cook! Covered in juicy pineapple, sizzling ham, and gooey melted cheese, tropical Hawaiian pizza is a slice in the right direction and a great way to start off 2021! This pizza also comes with a simple crust recipe, which can be made into a soft and thick crust or into a crisp and crunchy one. To make a thicker crust, use your palms to gently pat the dough from the middle to the sides, and make a thinner crust simply by pressing the dough out more and baking it on a pizza stone. Preparing the crust and spreading it with delicious toppings is a lot of fun and easy, so let’s get started!

Ingredients:

Corn meal

Oil

1 (0.25 ounce) package active dry yeast

1 teaspoon white sugar

1 cup warm water

2 ½ cups bread flour

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

5 ounces of pizza sauce

1 (8 ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained

½ cup diced ham

2 cups mozzarella cheese

Directions:

To make the pizza crust, preheat the oven to 450º Fahrenheit. Spread a cookie sheet with oil and sprinkle on some corn meal to prevent the dough from sticking. In a medium sized bowl, mix together the yeast, sugar, and warm water and let it stand for ten minutes. Then mix in the flour, salt, and oil and let it rest for five more minutes. Turn the dough onto the prepared cookie sheet and pat it out into a circle or a square, making sure to press more of the dough into the edges to give it a nice crust. Bake the crust for five minutes before spreading the pizza sauce on top. Then evenly cover it with mozzarella cheese, drained pineapple, and diced ham. Make sure to not get any cheese on the pan so that the crust won’t stick to it. Bake in the oven again for five to seven minutes, or until the crust is a light brown, and the cheese is melted.

To make this Hawaiian pizza even better, try making the crust into a stuffed crust, or using fresh chopped pineapple instead of canned, or baking it on a pizza stone to make the crust crunchy. Serve these fresh slices of pizza hot and enjoy!

    • Hi Berry! This recipe make one regular sized round or rectangular pizza. I’m not too sure how many people it could serve but probably about a family of four, but you can always double the recipe for two pizza. Hope that helps!
