Open Mic: A Collection of Poems by Millie Jeske

A glance.

              Spoken words.

A void.

              Unfillable.

              Water.

Sea.

              Fire.

Flame.

              Air.

Wind.

              Earth.

Stone.

A whispering breeze

              floats,

blows,

              gusts.

Fearful child,

Peace I give you.

Hated child,

Love I leave.

Hungry child,

Food I send you.

Saddened child,

tears I dry.

Shaped,

Formed,

              Loved,

Created,

              Forgiven,

Child of God.

Let me lie among the clouds,

Make my bed among the clouds

Cotton fluff will be my pillow

And drops of dew my covering be.

Meet the Author

How old are you?

I am 17 years old.

Where do you live?

I live in Tyler, Texas, which is about two hours from Dallas.

What classes are you taking with TPS?

I am taking Spanish 3 Language and Culture with Señor Poortenga and Children’s Lit Analysis and Comp with Mrs. Thomas.

What is your favorite thing about writing?

I love that I can express myself through my writing in a creative way. I like the fact that poetry is a looser form of creative writing, letting me break the boundaries and not have to stick to a certain structure.
