Meet Isabel Rogers: Baking Columnist

Meet Isabel Rogers! She is beginning her fifth year with TPS and her first year with clay as the new baking columnist. Starting in Kuwait, Isabel has moved to the Philippines and Jordan; she also has gone on a trip to France which she really enjoyed. A few of her favorite hobbies include listening to concert music and writing, and she also loves the color pink and horses.

When she bakes, Isabel finds it more fun to mix, measure, and make her goods than to decorate them. Two of her favorite desserts to put together are cakes and pies, especially apple and buttermilk pies. In her collection of recipes, Isabel has several that were handed down from her family members, and she just might start adding some of her own to that list. Keep an eye out for any handmade recipes in her articles this year!

Besides baking, Isabel also enjoys sports. After taking swimming lessons for a total of five years, she has moved on to kick boxing, which she has learned for six months, and she also does theater.

One of Isabel’s favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11-13, which reads “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.” Isabel says that this is one of her favorite verses because it reminds her that God has a plan for His people, that only comes through him. These verses also remind her that everything is for “our ultimate good and sanctification, even when we can’t see it.”

Another of Isabel’s interests is reading, and it inspires her love for literature and history. Her favorite books are classics such as the Lord of the Rings, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Little Women, and some of her favorite movies are Star Wars (episodes four, five, and six), Princess Bride, and the Lord of the Rings. If she had to live in a world from a book, she says that she would choose to live in Riven Dale in Middle Earth.

All in all, Isabel will make a fantastic baking columnist this year! Please look forward to seeing her love of baking come through in her articles!
