Meet Emma Kelley: Student Submissions Coordinator

It is my greatest honor to introduce you to 17-year-old senior, eight-year TPSer and clay’s new Student Selection Coordinator for this year, Emma Kelley! This year, Emma can be found in AP Statistics, AP Psychology, College Creative Writing, and Anatomy and Physiology. As the Student Selections Coordinator, Emma will be the person behind the scenes selecting all the TPS student submissions of art, photos, and more to be featured on clay’s social media. She will also be fielding any questions regarding those submissions. Emma describes herself as compassionate, motivated, and empathetic, which makes her the perfect addition to this year’s PR Team.

Emma lives in northwestern New Jersey with her two horses, four cats, her brother’s dog, and many chickens. As the youngest of four children, Emma is the one left at home. Emma is not only passionate about her job at clay this year, but she is also passionate about dance. Emma studies mostly in ballet, but she dabbles in jazz, tap, and modern dance as well. Emma also loves art, playing the piano, and reading. Next year, Emma plans to go to college, majoring in nursing, and minoring in dance! Some fun facts about Emma include: living on a family farm her entire life, traveling to Hawaii more than 5 times, keeping things organized, and loving matcha. Emma’s dream vacation would be going to Ireland and riding horses along the cliffs.

Some of Emma’s favorite things are the colors blue and yellow, licorice, anything chocolatey, indie, and acoustic music. She also loves sea otters and poetry; E.E. Cummings and T. S. Eliot rank as her favorite poets. Emma’s favorite books include the Chronicles of Narnia, the Infernal Devices, the Selection series, and the Scorpio Races. If Emma could have one superpower, she would want to fly. She claims, “it sounds kinda cliché, but I’m an adrenaline junkie, and being able to be in the air would be so incredible.” Emma says that if she could sit down and have coffee at one point in history with someone, she would choose C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. She would love to sit in at one of their meetings. After reading letters taking accounts of those meetings, she feels that it would be so amazing to listen to those brilliant men. Emma’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:13. Which reads, “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Contact Emma at clayOpenMicPR@pottersschool.org to submit your creative visual projects!
