Meet Claire Garretson, a first year member of clay and clay‘s new PR Manager! Although this is her first year at clay, she is now entering her fourth year in TPS as a senior. This year she will be taking on AP Environmental Science, AP Lit Comp, and her favorite, AP French, with TPS. She will also take AP Statistics with another curriculum. Besides school, Claire has an extremely busy schedule, even during the summer. She works as an intern on a political campaign, as well as having to wake up very early in the morning to practice on a rowing crew. Adding to her schedule, she both plays and teaches piano.
After having moved four times, Claire now lives in Chicago, Illinois with her parents and younger brother Andrew. When asked about her plans for college and a career, she mentioned several colleges all around the country, as well as majors focused on communications or public policy. Her dream is to work at the UN, frequently using her French skills. Claire is talented with languages; she attended the TPS France mission trip in 2018 and dreams of going to Paris. She also hopes to someday travel in Europe, maybe even studying Italian as an exchange student in Italy.
More interesting facts about Claire: she is an ESTJ and says she is extremely extroverted. Her favorite color is blush pink; knowing someone’s favorite color is very important to her. After some thought, she picked Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” and Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” as her favorite Bible verses. Fall is her favorite seasons and she loves to read books like Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby. She also mentions that she has worked on a Congressional committee, as well as participating with a robotics team.
Claire seems to be a very bright and energetic person, and I can’t wait to see what she does with clay and PR this year!
