Joining TPS in eighth grade, Nyah Rizzuti started her journey with The Potter’s School! She has taken eighteen classes total, including Englishs 1-4/5, Business Entrepreneurship, and multiple Maths. Learning under teachers like Mme Orsini and Madame S. made her French experience très bon! Nyah says her favorite class of all time at TPS was U.S. Military History with Mr. Crosby. Whenever she watches military history movies or documentaries, she thinks of Mr. Crosby and everything she learned from that one course.
Nyah has a variety of interests! She has played violin for eleven years and currently teaches eight of her own students. She loves to sing and lead worship for her church; and, she enjoys creating and designing whatever she can get her hands on. More of her passions are photography, travel, and fashion. Eating new foods or trying a different drink is one of Nyah’s favorite pastimes; she loves her kombucha and coffee. Nyah has also had the joy of surfing and skiing, but only three times each. She hopes to live by the ocean one day and go surfing every morning. Nyah is a little messy on her own and is still trying to get better at waking up early, senioritis alert! She puts her all into everything, except waking up, and takes academics seriously.
Nyah has a particular sense of humor; you either get it or you don’t. She loves Dad jokes, though she does not tell any herself. Identifying as the “mom” of her friend group, Nyah is not much of a risk-taker, but she will always try something new! She has a passion and empathy for other people and likes making friends. While consistently sporting a smile, she can get really competitive at her youth group. When Nyah was younger, she was 100% an introvert; yet, through the years, she has become much more of an extravert (ENFJ for those of you who know the Myers-Briggs personality type test). Even though she is not very sporty, Nyah enjoys nine-square, spikeball, and volleyball.
She testifies to the Lord’s saving grace in her life and reflects constantly on how He has grown and shaped who she is today. Nyah seeks to glorify the Lord through everything she does. She trusts His perfect timing and cannot wait to wade into the unknown with Jesus.
She will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall to pursue a Business Marketing/Administration degree with her minors undecided. She does not have an exact job in her sights right now, but she hopes to work for a big company such as Apple, Airbnb, or Ralph Lauren. Later down the road, she feels the Lord is leading her to open a boutique resort and use it as a business and ministry. You might stay at her resort on a tropical island one day, so keep a look-out!
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a Fashion Designer so bad, haha! I loved playing with my Barbies, picking my own outfits, and playing with my big sister’s clothes. My style has definitely evolved and I know designing my own clothes is out of the picture, but I would still love to work in the industry.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Psalm 46:1 has stuck with me for a long time, especially through some hard events in my life. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Recently, 1 Peter 5:6-11 has been a pillar in my life, reminding me why we all suffer, that God has got us, and to stay alert always.
Something that I quote all too frequently is Joey’s catchphrase from Friends, “How you do’in?” The way Joey always said it just makes me laugh and I use the saying as a hilarious way to greet my friends.
