While traveling in the states, I had the wonderful privilege of conversing with the amazing Bronwyn Dix. Bronwyn is a fifteen-year-old tenth grader and has been a part of The Potter’s School family for one year. This is Bronwyn’s first year being a part of clay Magazine. She is very excited to be the magazine’s Fashion Columnist in her first year.
Originally from Pelham, New York, Bronwyn has lived in a variety of places along the east coast, until seven years ago, when she finally settled in Richmond, Massachusetts. Currently, she lives on her family farm named Mountain Song Farm. The title of her farm stemmed from Isaiah 55:12, which states, “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” The Dix family decided to name their farm after Isaiah 55 because of the mountains that surround their home. Most importantly, however, they desired to have a biblical reference in their farm’s name.
Among the citizens of Mountain Song Farm is a dog, some goats, and some chickens. In addition, Bronwyn describes living on a farm as enjoyable due to her various responsibilities such as milking the goats, letting the chickens graze, and watering the garden. Later on, Bronwyn’s family hopes to adopt more animals.
This coming year, Bronwyn will participate in English 4/5/6 Advanced Composition, Latin 1, and World History and Cultures. While she is not certain what she desires to do as a career, her favorite subjects are science and English. In addition to her enjoyment for the two subjects, she also takes pleasure in drawing, sewing, and playing the piano. She also finds time for archery and, interestingly enough, Scottish dancing. Due to her love for music, Bronwyn thoroughly enjoys listening to soundtrack music by Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Her life-long goals consist of writing at least one young adult fiction book and sewing her own wedding dress. Her current goal is to finish a costume to wear on Halloween.
One of her most precious memories and birthdays was her sixth birthday, when she and her friends adorned themselves as princesses and acted as royalty during her tea party. Despite her more lady-like side, Bronwyn admits her love of Lord of the Rings and states that her favorite characters are Legolas, Arwen, and Eowyn.
Lastly, Bronwyn finds motivation every day in the promises in God’s word and dwelling in his presence while being in nature. She looks forward to studying his character and appreciates God’s outpouring of blessings for her needs. Above all, Bronwyn’s favorite verse is Psalm 46:10 due to the fact that it calms her spirit during the hectic school year. “He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will exalted among nations, I will be exalted in the earth'”.
