Drew Brooks: TPS Senior 2019

Drew has been with TPS since seventh grade (2013-14) and has taken a total of 30 TPS classes over these past six years. While he’s known for being Batman, he’s probably best known for running the TPS Memes Official account on Instagram. Despite the large homework load, he’s loved every year of TPS. Some of his favorite memories from TPS are being the winning lawyer for Jack Waters in the infamous Quail Pants Should Be Illegal trial, winning the TPS Batman vote (because he’s Batman), and, of course, TPS Summer Camp! He’s also thankful to have served with TPS Chapel for three years, and to have spent these last two years as the Director of Outreach. Out of the countless TPS classes he’s taken, one class in particular stands out as his favorite: Forensic Science with Mr. Ullman. If you ever want to take a science class where you learn and have fun on every assignment, Forensic Science is the class for you. The best part of the class was the end of year project, when we got to create our own crime scene scenario as well as solve another group’s scenario. Another one of his favorite teachers is Dr. Juneman. The skills in Bible study he learned through Dr. J’s logos classes as well as TPS Chapel messages have been invaluable, and he’s so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Juneman. He would list other favorite teachers, but he doesn’t have nearly enough space to list them all!

This fall Drew is excited to be attending Texas Christian University! Speaking of which, TCU is way better than Baylor. (Sorry, not sorry Halle.) He’s planning on majoring in strategic communications and minoring in business and is strongly considering pursuing either law or business school afterwards.

Through his time with TPS, Drew’s made many amazing friendships. If he were to list all the friends he was thankful for, he would quickly hit the character limit. A few he wants to personally thank are: Jonathan for putting up with him for these last five years (even though you betrayed him by choosing the inferior college, Miami), Rachel for the countless conversations about food and memes, Justin for the Russian (Где мой борщ?!!), fellow staff members at TPS Chapel for helping keep Chapel running every week, the clay senior editors for keeping clay running (#TCPNotClay), the iTeam for always being awesome, and the guys in the fantasy football and march madness group for always keeping it competitive!

Number of Years Taking TPS Classes: 6

Favorite Quote:

Earlier in the year, I said this would be his senior quote so, without anymore context, here it is: “Make it happen.”

Favorite Bible Verse:

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

It’s often hard to trust God when unexpected things, but ultimately He has a plan. These verses are incredibly encouraging to me, that as long as I continue to put my trust in Him, He will continue to guide me.

Advice to the Younglings of TPS:

Get involved with TPS Chapel! TPS Chapel is one of the biggest blessings I’ve been able to participate with! To be able to login every Saturday morning and worship God with other TPS students and teachers is a truly wonderful opportunity, and I strongly encourage you get involved in their staff! And if you don’t have the time commitment to join the staff, I highly recommend you attend to not only support the wonderful students who make sure it runs week in and week out, but also fellowship and experience an enriching message centered on the Word of God!

  1. Ahem typo correction, Drew meant to say that TCU is inferior to Baylor and wishes he could go there instead. Ahhh jealousy isn’t a good color on ya man.
Overall super cool to hear your story Drew and I hope God continues to bless you as you continue down the journey of life.

    • Nah, I most certainly did not make a typo—everyone knows that TCU is better than Baylor ;P

  2. I still can’t believe we were in the same TM class and never knew it but hey congrats on graduating, and I hope you have a fantastic time at college! Thanks for everything you’ve done for CLM, and long live TPS Memes Official. 😉

p.s. also long live putin el delfín

    • I can’t believe that either haha! Yes, long live TPS Memes Official!

PUTIN EL DELFÍN! How could I forget! What a legendary character ?

It’s been great to get to know you over these years at TPS, and I can’t wait to meet you again at camp!

  3. Jonathan Reichenberger

Congrats on graduating and pushing through all your complaining of homework lol. Seriously though, you’ve been a blessing to me, and I will definitely miss going to the same school as you next year. It’s not often you find friends like you’ve been to me, and I know that God will use you in many ways. Thank you for what you’ve done with Chapel for the past three years. You’ve always been someone I can rely on when I need something done. Again, congrats on graduating, and have fun at TCU! Make those Horned Frogs proud.

p.s. thank you for plugging chapel in your advice to the young ones

    • I was going to reply by talking about how you always complain, but then I realized I complain nearly every day ?

Thanks man, it’s been a blessing to have you as a friend as well! You better not forget me while you’re at Miami ;P I can’t wait to see you again this summer. Have fun at Miami when you watch the TCU Horned Frogs blow them out in the CFP Championship next year 😛

  4. Congrats Drew, on becoming a Horned Frog. Proud of you.

  5. Congrats on graduating, Drew! You are a great Precalc classmate, and I’m glad to have gotten to know you a bit over this past year. I hope you do great things at TCU, including finding a new cookie recipe, because mine is the best.

    • Thanks Cassie!

Also, whoa, whoa, whoa now, no need to spread fake news… everyone knows that MY cookies are CLEARLY the best.

  6. It’s been fun in US Gov with you, Drew! Lol, my dad went to Baylor and he would probably beg to differ with you. Good luck in college, after all transferring is always an option =D Just kidding, I’m sure that you’ll end up wherever you need to be in life.

    • Oh really? That’s cool! Too bad for him that he didn’t go to TCU, though, because he never got to experience the better Texas college ;P

  7. Wow. I’m so proud you mentioned the iTeam. :*) I didn’t. Woops. Cough. x)

  8. Carina Phillips

Hey Drew, it has been great getting to know you. It was fun having some classes together and seeing you at camp! It looks like you have some fun adventures ahead of you at TCU. I’ll see you soon at camp. : )

  9. Congratulations, Drew! It has been a joy having you in math classes over the years. I remember the first time I met you at TPS summer camp, I was expecting a senior because you dominated in that first class. And now you finally are a senior. I hope the best for you at TCU and I will be cheering you on at graduation from a distance.
