TPS Seniors 2019

Carina Phillips: TPS Senior 2019

Carina has been a student at TPS for 5 years and has greatly enjoyed all of the people she’s met and classes she’s taken along the way. Living in many parts of the world over the course of her lifetime, Carina has a heart for adventure and enthusiastically takes hold of many opportunities that have come her way. This has led to a passion for both medicine and Africa and Carina hopes to combine those and someday serve as a Pediatric Physical Therapist serving in Africa. To start out on this big new adventure, Carina will attend The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque next fall and do her undergraduate work in Emergency Medical Services hoping to go on to graduate school to complete a Doctor of Physical Therapy. So, if you find yourself in some remote region of the world someday and see a small person with a huge smile on her face repelling out of a helicopter on a rescue or teaching a young child how to walk, be sure to meet her. Carina will turn any form of work into fun and you’ll find yourself having a grand time doing whatever the task is at hand.

Number of Years Taking TPS Classes: 5

Favorite Quote:

“And will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! 98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.” I have always loved Dr. Seuss and his wonderful advice for life. This quote I always thought of when I received a not so great grade. It reminded me that the goal is not to get a 100, but it is to continue learning throughout all of life, and to get back up and try again.

Favorite Bible Verse:

Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you. This verse has always comforted me during trialing times. It reminds me that I have someone that will never leave me, I have someone who will comfort me in times of sadness, and rejoice with me in times of happiness.

Advice to the Younglings of TPS:

Have fun in class, use emojis wisely, (which could be a lot or a little, I used about 30 every class), and don’t be afraid to get on mic or guess at an answer.

  1. Hi Carina!! It’s been so awesome getting to meet you and take so many classes with you over the last several years, and I can’t wait to graduate with you this year :). I know you’ll be really great at UNM!

  2. Leanne Zuiderveen

Wooohoo! I can’t believe you are graduating! It has been so awesome to get to know you over the years of TPS camps. Canadian Dodge ball and Ultimate Frisbee just won’t be the same without you and your smile! Hope Albuquerque treats you well!

  3. Hey Carina! Thinking back on the past 4 years of high school… it’s been great. Thanks for being such a big part of all of it and a great friend : ) Good luck in New Mexico, and I’ll keep in mind to talk to anyone I see repelling out of a helicopter!

  4. Jonathan Reichenberger

It is very sad that in our last year here at TPS, it was the only year that we didn’t take a class together. Anyways, I’m excited to see what you’ll do at New Mexico, and I know you’ll be a blessing to everyone over there. Keep on smiling, and make sure you keep that crazy older brother of yours in check! Congrats on graduating!

  5. Congrats Carina! It’s been great to get to know you through camp and Western Civ! (Even though I don’t really ever say anything in class ?). And ditto Jon, although I’m not really sure if anyone can keep Justin in check ?

  6. That’s so cool about Africa and the medical field! My older sister is in Africa and has always had a heart for that and her and my other older sister are both in the medical field. I, on the other hand, could never do that. It’s definitely a gift. Honestly, you’re the perfect person for it, because you have to have a huge heart, but you also have to be strong – you are both. I had a lot of fun getting to know you a little last year and hopefully more this year. I think you are an amazing person (I regret not knowing you more before), and I know you will go far in life. I admire you a bunch. ^.^

  7. Carina! I will greatly miss you! Can’t believe you’re already graduating… Must be exciting! Thank you for being such a great friend. I hope that stay strong and close to God as you enter the next stage of your life. Btw gotta love that photo 😉

  8. Hey Carina!! it was awesome meeting you in Thailand earlier this year. work hard and have a great time in college!

  9. Ahh look it’s my long-lost sister. <3 Congrats on graduating, Carina!!

  10. Congratulations, Carina! Even though you never claim to like math, I enjoyed having you in my class and it was especially great to meet you at TPS camp. I hope the best for you!
