Meet Theresa Lam, a sixteen-year-old student from the Mid-Atlantic U.S.A. with a love of grapes, soccer, and journalism. This is Theresa’s second year with TPS, and you can keep an eye out for her in Physics and AP U.S. History this year. She has one younger sister, whom she appreciates because she puts up with Theresa’s self-confessed stubbornness and endless talk about soccer. She is an ENFJ-T “with a high percentage of turbulence” on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Because she has been a fan of clay since she joined TPS, Theresa decided to apply this summer when she let her love of journalism lead her into the News section. Her passion for journalism can be strongly seen in her goals for the future as well. Ideally, her life after high school includes majoring in political science and journalism while playing soccer on an NCAA team, pursuing professional soccer after she graduates college, and eventually retiring from that to begin a new career in either journalism or politics.
As far as interests go, Theresa has many. Her tastes in music include Imagine Dragons, NEEDTOBREATHE, Lindsey Stirling, Danny Gokey, Alexander Jean, ForKingandCountry, Rend Collective, and Rachel Platten. When it comes to reading, she enjoys The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, The Mysterious Benedict Society series by Trenton Lee Stewart, Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, and Only Child by Rhiannon Navin. Her current favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28 because it reminds her that God has never and will never give her a battle she cannot handle.
Describing herself as a dreamer, Theresa Lam is a well-rounded teen with big goals for herself and a strong motivation to get there. She will be a great addition to the clay staff, and we can’t wait to see what amazing things she brings to the General News column.
