Kalijah Rahming: Spotlight Editor

Meet Kalijah Rahming, this year’s Spotlight Editor for clay magazine! This sixteen year old INFP lives in Jacksonville, Florida with her family, which includes her two twin brothers, Kanye and Kadar, aged thirteen. Her upcoming school year includes Photography: Beginner to Brilliant, and Sociology. She is also considering Photoshop and Government. As for her favorite subject, she she says that is a three way tie with English, Acting, and Singing. She has many diverse interests! She is entering her second year in TPS, and looking forward to it. In addition to her editing and school, she sings and hopes she can resume playing piano again. Kalijah is looking forward to meeting the columnists that will be working with her this year, and wants to use her platform as a way of giving the spotlight to God however she can. Her favorite verse is Esther 4:14. “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” She said this verse reminds her that God has a plan, especially when she has to face hard things. Due to her family’s connection to the military, she says it is often hard when she has to move away from a place after she gets settled there, and she says this verse helps her stay at peace with all of life’s trials. This verse also reminds her to be bolder and do things she does not want to do.

Kalijah greatly wishes to visit France again, and she especially loves the thought of Paris. When asked what three items she would grab if her house burned down, she answered: “My phone, my copy of the Little Princess, and my Bible.”  She says that her favorite food is Haystacks, or taco salad. According to her, you must construct them from bottom to top: chips, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Sounds delicious!

As Kalijah progresses through the year, I hope we will all continue to get to know her, and I wish her luck in completing her goals. Since she interviewed me last year, I was so excited to return the favor, and I know she will have a very successful year.
