TPS Seniors 2018

Madelaine Setiawan

Meet Madelaine Setiawan!

One of The Potter’s School’s graduating seniors, she currently resides in Indonesia. Though she’s only been with TPS for two years, she has grown to love the school. Out of all the classes she’s taken, Madelaine especially loves AP English Language and Composition with Mrs. Troxell because of her love for English and the friendships she’s developed.

During her two years at TPS, Madelaine was deeply involved with the school newspaper. In her junior year, she was the Alumnus Spotlight Columnist for Clay Magazine’s predecessor, The Cracked Pot, and in her senior year, she became a member of the Social Media staff. Even from a very young age, Madelaine has had a heart for writing, whether fictional stories or essays. This fall, Madelaine is moving to Australia to pursue Journalism in college.

A literature geek, Madelaine deeply enjoys spending her time reading, writing, and binge-watching as many movies and TV shows as she can. She reads up to 150 books in a year, and has written her first novel. Aside from this geekiness, she also has a deep love for music as she comes from a very musical family. She loves to spend hours on the piano, either learning a new classical piece or accompanying herself by singing. If she’s not playing the piano, she is practicing the guitar. Madelaine also loves to travel the world, whether to buy more books, attend a live sports game, visit classical musicians’ tombs, or learn about new cultures. Madelaine is thankful she gets to attend TPS and build friendships from all over the world.

Favorite Bible Verse:

In troubling times, Madelaine finds comfort in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Advice to the younglings of TPS:

The one piece of advice she would give to any TPS younglings is to “Do your homework!”
