Webley Woods, a lovely rising eighth grader with an independent, wild, intelligent and quiet personality, lives in Hong Kong, China with her parents and her younger brother. As she enters her second year at The Potter’s School, Webley will write for clay for the very first time, taking over the Food Column. Cooking and baking are two of Webley’s hobbies, and she decided to apply for the “Food Column” so that she can pass on her love for the culinary arts to other people through her writing.
Besides spending time in the kitchen, though Webley does not describe herself as extremely athletic, she enjoys swimming very much. In addition, Webley loves to read. She does not have a favorite book, but she particularly enjoys the beloved fictional series “Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery.”
Out of all of the subjects which Webley has studied, she loves history most of all because, as she wisely put it, history can tend to repeat itself, so studying it gives her the opportunity to better understand the events that unfurl today. However, becoming a historian is not the current career choice Webley hopes to pursue; instead, she hopes to become a chemical engineer. When asked where she sees herself in ten years, Webley answered that she wishes to graduate with a chemical engineering degree from Auburn University, in Alabama. Webley also hopes to get married and have children.
Webley loves the Lord and has an incredible relationship with Him. One of her favorite Bible verses is Song of Solomon 7:3, which says, “You are altogether beautiful, my darling, there is no flaw in you.” Webley especially likes this one because it “reminds me that I am perfect for exactly what God needs me to do.” What an outstanding testament to all of us that God created us with a specific purpose in mind, and even though we are imperfect beings, we are perfect for the purpose for which He created us.
Webley looks forward to writing the Food Column and to sharing her love for cooking and baking with all of you!
